👪Reflect on your childhood experiences: Think back to your earliest memories of exercising & how it was talked about in your household. Did your parents enlist you in sports clubs or other physical activities at school? Did your family participate in much group exercise?
✨Consider the role models in your life: Identify the people in your life who influenced your beliefs & behaviours in relation to fitness. Was it your parents, siblings, or other relatives? What attitudes did they have towards fitness, & how often were you involved in physical activities with them?
📝Examine your education: Evaluate what you learned about fitness in school, and how this may have impacted your beliefs. Did you receive any formal education about fitness (PE) or nutrition or did you have to learn through experience? Did you have access to resources, such as clubs/societies, lectures/seminars, online material?
⭕️Identify your current habits: Take a closer look at your current fitness & health habits & attitudes towards exercise. Are there patterns or beliefs that you've carried over from your upbringing? Are there any fitness behaviours you'd like to change?
💬Try to seek out outside perspectives: Talk to other people, such as friends & relatives about their own experiences with fitness & perhaps you’ll find some similarities/differences to your own. You can also seek some professional guidance if you need help addressing any negative beliefs or behaviours you've identified.
